Tiger cup 2004: Malaysia 2 - 1 Myanmar
Tonight: Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms. Low around 75F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50%.
The long awaiting day finally came. Malaysia looking for avenge their defeat against Myanmar in the group match, as well as finding a way to recover dissapointment of fans, much to the 1 - 4 lost to Indonesia. Sokong tetap sokong, as mentioned earlier. Headed to Lavendar MRT at around 5:30 pm and suppose to meet C and G. L will join us later around 7 plus. C arrived first and G joined in 10 minutes later.
6:45 p.m., walked towards the stadium, can see quite a number of Myanmar fans already inside the stadium. Selangor fans club supporters, who came all the way from Malaysia since yesterday midnight, hung a long and big jalur gemilang. They were sitting at left block of west entrance. Wow! Feel hungry and without wasting time, headed to S-11 coffee shop near the stadium to have our dinner. C ordered Ngo Hiong while me and G picked Ba Cho Mee, one of the many varieties of boiled noodles served with various ingredients.
L arrived at 7:22 pm and we entered the stadium. Sang Negaraku loudly. Three Myanmar fans, originally sitting near to us, right block of east entrance, were ordered by the police officer incharge to move to left block, where most of the Myanmar fans situated. Maybe security reasons. Last two week match against Singapore saw a few Myanmar fans injured.
The atmosphere were goods, fans from either side cheering their team… 15th minute, Khaironisam sent a long ball and Khalid stopped it nicely, powered the shot from an acute angle, Goal! He scored his sixth in the tournament, same style, as what he did against Indonesia.
Then, Myanmar was looking hard for an equalizer. Malaysia was lucky enough as Myanmar hitting the cross bar twice.
Kit Kong being substituted out 5 minutes later after the break. 56th minute, Myanmar levelled the score 1 - 1, thanks to their captain, Soe Myat Min. The ball seems like offside but linesman gave no agree, while Malaysian players hopping for an offside decision.
Lack of something, I think… Until now, midfield still lack of something, perhaps a clear leader, who can read the game well and motivate the others. Fadzli missed a few chances, made me very very frustrating.
Nantha came in and brought some momentum. Surenden played better in the second half. 56th minute, Khalid made a good run on the right and fired a shot, the ball bounced to Mohd Nor and he scored his first international goal and second for Malaysia.
Myanmar substitute No. 2 Khin Maung Tun had good run, speedy. Watch out for him, in the near future. Last minute, injury time saw opponent earned a free kick, just outside penalty box. Hush… the ball just over the bar. 2 - 1 to Malaysia and claimed the third place of Tiger cup 2004.
Malaysia!!! - celebration after Malaysia took the third place of Tiger cup 2004
